What the microswitch does

A microswitch is a small electrical switch that signals the position of a moving part to the coffee machine – for example, the closing of the service door, the insertion of the drip tray, or the position of a valve. Based on its signal, the control unit knows whether the machine is ready for operation or should interrupt its function.

When the part stops doing its job

The coffee machine reports a door-open or missing-tray error even though they are in place
The machine won't start or shuts down unexpectedly during brewing
Clicking or mechanical resistance when closing the door with no reaction on the display
Unstable, intermittent operation sensitive to position or pressure on the housing

Why timely replacement pays off

A faulty microswitch prevents the coffee machine from recognizing a safe state, and the machine may refuse to work even when it is physically fine. Long-term forcing of the position or bypassing the signal can damage other electronics.
