What is the water inlet valve

The water inlet (supply) valve is a component that controls the flow of water from the source into the coffee machine. It opens and closes the water path at the precise moment, so that only as much water flows into the system as is needed to prepare coffee, fill the boiler, or top up the tank.

Typical signs of wear

• The coffee machine does not draw water, or draws it slowly and irregularly
• Water leaks outside of brewing, or escapes around the valve
• The boiler does not fill to the correct level, changing the strength and taste of the coffee
• A buzzing, clicking, or hissing sound occurs when water is drawn in

When it's time for a replacement

A worn or leaking valve puts strain on other components of the water circuit and can cause overflow, moisture damage to the electronics, or a failure to brew coffee. Timely replacement prevents bigger faults and keeps the machine running reliably.
