What the milk frother does
The milk frother is a component of the coffee machine that uses steam or drawn-in air to turn milk into the fine foam needed for cappuccino, latte or macchiato. It consists of a nozzle, possibly with a cover part, through which steam passes and milk is drawn in.
Typical signs of wear
- Milk doesn't foam or the foam is coarse and uneven
- Increased noise or hissing during frothing
- Dried milk residue reduces steam or air flow
- Visible cracks, deformation or a loose fitting of the part
Why timely replacement pays off
A worn or dirty frother not only worsens foam quality but can also cause the steam nozzle to clog and lead to uneven milk dosing. Dried milk deposits are also a breeding ground for bacteria, so it's worth replacing the part before it starts to visibly affect the resulting drink.
How to choose the right part
Frothers vary in shape and mounting method between different coffee machine models, so check compatibility in the product table before purchasing.
