What the presence sensor does

The presence sensor detects whether the lever or the tank is in place and sends this information to the coffee machine's control electronics. Based on its signal, the machine knows whether it can start extraction, heating or another step in the brewing process, or when it should stop the operation instead.

Signs of wear or malfunction

When the sensor fails or becomes dirty, the coffee machine may incorrectly evaluate the lever or tank as missing or present. This shows up as error messages, refusal to start brewing, irregular machine operation, or the process stopping in the middle of extraction for no apparent reason.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A faulty sensor limits normal use of the coffee machine and can also cause an unexpected stop right during preparation of a drink. Timely replacement prevents recurring error states and unnecessary strain on other components that rely on its signal.
