What is a three-way solenoid valve

The three-way solenoid valve controls the direction of water and pressure in the coffee machine's circuit. Depending on whether it is energized or not, it lets water flow to the brewing unit, or releases the residual pressure from the circuit after coffee preparation. Thanks to it, the brew head is safely depressurized after extraction and the mechanism can be opened comfortably.

Signs of wear

• Water or steam leaks in places where it should stay within the circuit
• The valve coil buzzes loudly or clicks differently than usual
• The coffee machine shows a pressure error or the brewing unit is hard to open
• Change in coffee taste caused by incorrect pressure during extraction

When it's time for a replacement

A worn or stuck seal in the valve can cause a permanent pressure leak, leading to unstable coffee preparation and unnecessary strain on other components of the circuit. Timely replacement prevents more serious pump or heater failures.
