What is a drip tray plate

The drip tray plate is the bottom or top flat part of the coffee machine's drip system that collects water, coffee residue and drips during brewing. It is usually placed onto the grid or into the body of the drip tray and channels liquid away from the machine's work surface.

When the part stops doing its job

Over time the plate can become deformed, cracked or its surface finish can get damaged. As a result, water overflows the tray, remains on the work surface or seeps into the coffee machine. An uneven or damaged plate also causes the grid resting on it to sit unstably and rattle when handled.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A damaged or leaking plate leads to moisture around the coffee machine, possible damage to nearby furniture or electronics, and an unpleasant smell from trapped moisture. Timely replacement keeps the drip system functional and clean.
