Function of the bean container

The bean container (in some versions also used for ground coffee) is a hopper located on top of the coffee machine, from which the grinder continuously draws a dose for preparing espresso. It usually includes a lid that protects the contents from moisture, light and odours from the surroundings, which affects the freshness and taste of the resulting drink.

Signs of wear or damage

Cracked plastic, a leaking or missing lid, or a damaged closing mechanism cause the beans or ground coffee to lose their aroma more quickly, or allow moisture and dirt to get into the container. A loose or deformed container can move around in the grinder, leading to uneven dosing or, in the worst case, the machine no longer processing beans at all.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A damaged container affects the quality and consistency of the coffee with every brew and, in a worse case, can prevent the grinder from running smoothly. Replacing it with a new part restores the container's tightness and functionality and prevents further dosing problems.
