What is the float cover and what is it for

The float cover (water level cover) is a structural part that covers and protects the water level indicator mechanism in the tank or boiler of the coffee machine. It ensures that the float and its guide remain protected against mechanical damage and helps maintain the correct function of water level sensing.

Signs of wear or damage

If the cover is cracked, deformed, or missing mounting points, the float may move freely or get stuck. This shows up as incorrect water level signalling, error messages on the coffee machine, or water leaking around the tank, since the cover no longer seals properly or no longer holds the mechanism in the correct position.

Why you shouldn't put off the replacement

A damaged float cover can cause incorrect water refilling, which leads to overheating of the heating element or, conversely, to the coffee machine shutting down for safety reasons. Timely replacement protects other components from unnecessary strain and prevents bigger failures.
