What is a cap/seal plug and what it's for

A cap or seal plug is a cover or blanking piece that seals a chosen point of a coffee machine's water or heating circuit. It keeps water or steam under pressure at that point and prevents it from escaping the intended path. Without a properly seated and undamaged cap, the system cannot reliably maintain the pressure needed to brew coffee.
