What is a brewing unit

The brewing unit is the heart of an automatic coffee machine. It presses ground coffee into a compact puck and forces hot water through it under pressure, producing espresso. Its piston, filters and seals must seal perfectly and move smoothly to ensure even extraction.

Typical signs of wear

• Weak or watery coffee without crema
• Water or ground coffee leaking around the unit
• Jamming, grinding or loud mechanical noises during brewing
• The coffee machine reports an error ejecting or inserting the unit
• The unit cannot be ejected or inserted at all

Why timely replacement pays off

A worn brewing unit not only worsens the taste of the coffee but can also cause a more serious machine failure, since it is a mechanically stressed component. Timely replacement prevents further damage to surrounding parts and restores the machine's original performance.
