What is a pod filter basket

A pod filter basket is a metal insert in the portafilter or basket that holds the coffee pod in place while allowing water to flow through the coffee. Its perforations distribute water evenly across the whole dose, which affects extraction and the resulting espresso flavor.

Signs of wear

If the filter basket is damaged, clogged, or corroded, the water flow becomes uneven. This shows up as weak or, conversely, too fast extraction, watery or bitter coffee, water leaking around the portafilter, or the pod not being fully ejected after brewing.

Why replace this part in time

A worn or deformed filter basket cannot properly hold the pod or ensure even water pressure, which directly affects the quality of the coffee in the cup. Timely replacement restores stable extraction and also prevents possible damage to the portafilter's seal.
