What the air (vent) valve does

The air vent valve releases air or excess pressure from the boiler or circuit of the coffee machine. It prevents air from building up in the system, which would disrupt the proper flow of water and steam and cause unstable pressure during coffee preparation.

How to spot wear

• The coffee machine hisses or steam escapes from an unusual spot
• Boiler pressure fluctuates or fails to reach the required level
• Coffee brewing or milk frothing is slower or irregular
• Water drips from the valve even when the machine is not in use

When it's time for a replacement

A leaking or stuck valve puts extra strain on the heating system and can lead to uneven pressure, affecting espresso quality and accelerating wear on other components. Timely replacement helps prevent bigger boiler or pressure circuit failures.
