What is a drip tray

The drip tray (condensation tray) is part of the lower section of the coffee machine, where it catches residual water, coffee or milk that drips from the spout or grille during preparation. This keeps the area around the coffee machine clean and dry, and prevents liquids from running onto the worktop or into the interior of the appliance.

When the part stops doing its job

Over time, the tray can crack, warp or lose its seal, which shows up as water leaking out from under the coffee machine, damp stains on the surface it stands on, or an unpleasant smell from coffee and milk residue that can't be properly cleaned.
